In 2015, after 42 years, James (Jay) Secor, retired from his profession as an educator, dean and headmaster. Throughout his career, Jay served as a teacher at Deep Creek Junior High School in Chesapeake, Virginia, as well as Dean of Students at Purnell School in New Jersey. Jay was also an Assistant Headmaster at schools in New Orleans, Louisiana and St. Louis, Missouri as well as a Headmaster in Aiken, South Carolina and Founding Headmaster at Hunter McGuire School in Verona, Virginia. Jay most recently served as Founding Headmaster at the Episcopal School of Knoxville. Jay is a current member of the Board of Trustees at Chatham Hall in Chatham, Virginia. Since 2013, Jay has served as Chair of the Membership Committee, Endowment Board of Trustees at Maumee Valley Country Day School. Jay is also a member of the Strategic Advancement Committee at Maumee Valley Country Day School. At the present time, Jay is a TMA Georgia Welles Apollo Society Member and serves on the Toledo Museum of Art’s Development Committee. Jay’s family roots in Toledo date back to 1840. Jay is a graduate of Virginia Wesleyan University in Norfolk, Virginia and received his master’s in education from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Jay and wife Christine Robinson Secor enjoy spending time with their 2 daughters, 1 son and 8 grandchildren.
