Naach by Aha is a vibrant South Asian dance company based in Toledo, Ohio, known for blending traditional Indian movement with socially driven storytelling. Under the direction of Shyam Suchak, the ensemble features high-energy Bollywood, folk, semi-classical, and Kathak-inspired fusion choreography. They’re in residence at the Common Space Center for Creativity on Reynolds Road, a former school turned arts hub. As The Toledo Blade described, during rehearsal “long red skirts [fly] out around them,” capturing their joyful and expressive style.
A favorite at the Toledo Museum of Art, Naach by Aha regularly performs during Block Parties and the Great Art Escape on the Peristyle stage. Their work fuses regional Indian styles with modern influences and often explores themes like identity, gender, and empowerment. At this year’s Block Party, they’ll debut a bold new piece inspired by The Greatest Showman, mixing Broadway flair with South Asian rhythms in a celebration of individuality.
At the heart of the company are lead dancers Amy Rodebaugh, Tiffany Adamski, Jen Szczublewski, and Udita Bhavsar, each bringing unique movement backgrounds and artistic voices.
Beyond the museum stage, Naach by Aha collaborates with community partners such as Satrangi Designer Indian Wear Boutique at Fallen Timbers Mall, who will join the company at the upcoming TMA Block Party for a vibrant South Asian fashion show. They also perform at events like the Festival of India and fundraisers for Women of Toledo, and offer open workshops that invite the public to explore dance as a form of cultural storytelling and social connection.
With expressive choreography and a powerful message, Naach by Aha continues to be a bold and joyful force for inclusion and transformation through dance.
